A busy weekend saw Buckley Runners success in two races on the same day.
In the morning the Tarren Hendre fell race (from Abergwynolwyn) saw half a dozen hardy souls tackle the steep climbs in cold weather with a biting wind on the upper sections. Simon Edwards was 4th overall and 1st MV40. Justin won U23, Steve Toogood won MV50 and John Morris won MV70.
In the afternoon a fantastic turnout for the club at Rhug for the North Wales Cross Country Championships. The organisers stated their regrets about poor turnout from some clubs, Buckley was an exception along with Prestatyn who organised the event and still managed to turn out good teams. Conditions were “interesting”. The course had dried out considerably during the last couple of weeks although there were still some very wet areasFinal Results NWCC 2016 and a stream to contend with. A cold day with a stiff breeze and snow showers made for cold running but even colder for marshals and spectators.
The ladies won silver in the team competition. Ceri and Hazel won silver in FV45 and FV55. And I am not sure why but Suzanna shows in the results as 1st FV35 but not in the podium places with Jane completing the team and ensuring the team prize.
9 men ran in the seniors ace (plus Rob in the M60/65 race). 4 finishers in top 11 place secured the 1st team prize with Jez (6th and 1st MV40) Simon R (8th and 2nd MV45), Eric (10th and 1st MV50) and Paul (11th and 2nd MV40). They were well supported by Karl, Allen, Gareth, Ian and Dave.

An excellent day with a good medal haul for the club. Followed by tea and cakes before the presentation, in a snow storm!
Next Tuesday is pub night. It would be good to see a you all at the Running Hare at around 8.30 after training.
Next Saturday is the final round of the cross country at Oswestry. It another excellent challenging course with a bit of everything followed by the presentation. The scores are very close so we need a good turnout to, especially in the male vets to secure our place. We will lift-share. Details will be on Facebook later in the week.
