Wednesday 28th June, saw the 2017 Robbie Webster Wobbler race. For those that don’t know it, the race is named in memory of a respected member of Helsby Running Club and for the state of runners legs after the numerous steep climbs in and around Frodsham woods.
After an atrocious day of non-stop heavy rain, Ten Buckley Runners out of an overall field of one hundred braved the wet and muddy conditions on this mid summer evening race.
The race is considered a trail race, however at 5.2m with over 1200ft of climb, it has fell like ascent. It starts in Frodsham itself and takes in the full length of Frodsham Hill before ending on the summit.
Elliot Cox and Hayley Evans had excellent runs to take the first overall male and female position, with Jez Brown 4th and 1st V40, and Simon Edwards in the top 10 finishers. Strong runs also from Phil Pumford, Tim Hargreaves, Connor Donoghue (2nd u23), Ceri Cook (5th lady), Paul Donoghue, and Marcus Reid. Buckley also took the team trophy, for the second year.
